Getting Into Game Creation without Being in Game Creation

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

When we talk about game design and creating games alot of us think we have to come from that disipline or be only that to create wonderful games. Well think again. You can come from any industry, any discipline, anything and create fantastic games that people will love. Come join us as we talk about how we came to creating games, what its like coming into it without these constraits of right and wrong, and how to just dive right in without any training. Have a great time with some great speakers who just think creating a natural part of everyday life for every industry.

Game Designer, Storm8
After a lifelong love affair with video games, I decided to pursue a career in game design. I knew nothing about the game development process, and was guided only by my passion for immersive storytelling. After considering my options (grad school, mostly), I decided to make a go of it my own way, and used grassroots community and self-education to start a career in the industry!

Software Engineer, AltspaceVR
Amber has over ten years experience as a software engineer, but has no formal training in game development and only started creating her own games 18 months ago. Yet those hackathon and game jam projects helped her land a job at AltspaceVR, a small venture-funded startup, where she builds multi-player games and apps that run in virtual reality.
